Take Action!

We Need Your Voice To Be Heard!

Dear NHAHPERD Members,

Significant changes being proposed to the certification process for becoming a certified Health and/or Physical Education teacher. Unfortunately, these changes could negatively impact both aspiring educators and the quality of instruction in our schools.

The proposed revisions include drastically changing the requirements from a certified college program to experience based certification. These adjustments raise serious concerns about maintaining professional standards and ensuring that our students receive high-quality health and physical education. These changes are detrimental to ensuring our students’ safety with limited to no training in classroom management under this proposed plan. This does not even begin to touch all the other areas of concern: curriculum instruction, special education, etc.

As professionals dedicated to the well-being and development of students, it is critical that we voice our concerns. Lowering certification standards not only undermines our profession but also jeopardizes the health and safety education that students deserve.

What You Can Do:

Our collective voice matters. Let’s work together to protect the integrity of our profession and advocate for the best interests of our students.

Thank you for your commitment and support. Please reach out if you have questions or need assistance in submitting feedback.

Sincerely,

Jarrod Brooks

Executive Director-NHAHPERD
